If you know me, you know I’m not a talker. But I am a thinker. I like to process things. I enjoy books that make you think, movies that throw you a curve. I like having discussions — not debates. I don’t like arguing.
So I want to carry that quality over into my own art. You may not think of clothing as art, but it is. It is walking art. And I want to make viewers stop and think, if only for a minute or two. What do I want them to think about? God, His word, and how it relates to their own lives.
My first experience of mixing God’s word into my art was in college. You can see it here. I didn’t then, and I still don’t want to be overwhelming. I just want to share enough of His word that the viewer pauses to think,
Where did those words – or that phrase – come from?
I want to look into that more.
God gave me this gift, this talent, this desire to create to begin with. How could I not create things that glorify Him? How could I not create things that point to Him as the Almighty?
So why do I create my art? Because it matters. Because if one person connects with Christ because of what I created, then the years of creating were all worth it.
